I have been a Sky television viewer for almost 12 years. My only reason for subscribing was for the sports coverage. Initially I also included the movie channels in my package but gave these up when I joined an online DVD rental scheme. (See blog of 27th February 2008.) It has always annoyed me that I could not subscribe to Sky Sports without also having to take one of the Entertainment packages. My wife and I only use the service for watching sport and, until recently, rarely watched any of the other channels which, quite frankly, we regarded as a waste of money. In common with other Arsenal fans, I have been feeling pretty fed up for the past couple of days following the 2-1 defeat by Birmingham in the Carling Cup final. The team was far from its best but was still better than its opponents whom it had already beaten twice this season. Still, that is irrelevant. It’s only the result that counts. It nevertheless makes it all the more depressing. Here was a golden chance to win a trophy for the first time since 2005 but we blew it. read more »
